A questão do trabalho urbano é tema central na sociologia brasileira e latino americana. Desde meados do século passado, duas perspectivas teórico-metodológicas têm sido opostas. De um lado, aqueles que defendem uma leitura mais estruturalista que focam suas análises no processo de integração dependente e subalterna da economia latino americana no mercado mundial. De outro, perspectivas de cunho mais etnográfico que buscam analisar as situações concretas de vida, trabalho e sobrevivência das classes populares urbanas.

This collaboration proposes a series of horizontal exchanges to develop capacity on both sides in methodological and ethical innovation with a focus on the challenges of working with vulnerable communities. The mechanism for the exchanges will be a Pop-Up Lab. Labs are a model of collaboration that the RMIT Digital Ethnography Research Centre (DERC) has been developing. Anne Harris is a core member of DERC and is initiating a new lab in the School of Education concerning creativity and social inclusion, aligned with the focus of this application.
